East Garden: Japanese Animals
Taking advantage of the scenery with Five-storied Pagoda of the former Kan'ei-ji Temple, the museum exhibits Japanese animals. In "Birds of Japan I," Japanese Rock Ptarmigan and Lidth's Jay jays, which are being protected outside their habitat, as well as other small birds, are on display, while behind Five-storied Pagoda are the Japanese Japanese Serow, a national special natural monument. In "Birds of Japan II," Japanese Japanese Squirrel are also on display along with medium-sized birds. You can observe the lives of animals according to the four seasons of Japan.
