The service guides primarily assist visitors with facility information and event support. (Note: They are not volunteers who support animal care work.)

What Tokyo Sea Life Volunteers aim for
the purpose
By participating in the aquarium's educational outreach activities and observing the animals, visitors will deepen their understanding and interest in animals, nature, and the environment.
Activity guidelines
Enjoy, learn, and connect together
Through observing living creatures, visitors can deepen their mutual understanding and interest in living creatures and the natural environment.
To make observations more enjoyable, we are constantly working with the aquarium to improve the content of the guided tours.
We cooperate with the aquarium's educational and outreach activities, connecting the creatures with visitors.

Tokyo's Sea and Tide Pool Volunteer Guide
Tuesdays and Fridays: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 1:15 PM - 3:10 PM (once a day)
Saturday and Sunday 10:00-12:00 and 13:15-15:15
● The sea of Tokyo
We'll guide you in front of various tanks in the "Tokyo Sea" area. With a wide variety of creatures from the Ogasawara Islands to Tokyo Bay, you're sure to find your favorite!
● Tide pool
This is a guided tour of the "Tide Pool" area. You can observe marine life up close.
Tuna Volunteer Guide
Every fourth Sunday of the month, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
We'll guide you using original items such as specimens of eggs and bones, photos of food, and mini-quizzes.
When you observe tuna swimming in a tank, you'll notice moments when their hidden fins pop out, so try to think about what they're used for as you watch!
Penguin and Seabird Volunteer Guide
Every second Saturday of the month, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The guided tour uses penguin eggs, taxidermied penguins, and other items to give visitors a feel for a penguin's weight, as well as photographs showing their size at birth. The types of penguins on display also change depending on whether it's summer or winter, so you can enjoy the seasonal changes as well.
This guide will show you the colorful eggs of seabirds and the differences between their summer and winter plumage. Let's observe seabirds swimming underwater and explore the differences between them and birds that fly in the sky.
Shark Volunteer Guide
Every second Sunday of the month, 13:15-15:15
We'll use shark skin, teeth, and eggshells to guide you. Sharks have a scary image, but let's explore their true nature and fascinating aspects together as we observe them.
Shirasu Detectives
Second Sunday of every month 10:00-12:00
Join the children as they search for creatures mixed in with the whitebait. The activity involves identifying the species and finding adult versions of these creatures in a tank. You'll discover a variety of marine life!
Kamishibai activities
Every 4th Sunday of the month 13:15-15:15
Through picture-story shows, we'll funnily convey the charm of the creatures that inhabit the "Tokyo Sea." We sometimes use stuffed animals in our performances. Children can learn about these creatures while having fun.
West Beach Bottle Watching
Irregular schedule. Varies depending on the season, tides, and weather.
Many creatures live in Tokyo Bay, which stretches out right in front of Tokyo Sea Life Park. This project involves collecting and displaying creatures from that sea, allowing visitors to feel closer to the west shore. After the project is complete, the creatures will be returned to the sea.
Volunteers' Day
All TSV members will be gathering! You can enjoy all the activities in one day, including guided tours of each aquarium, picture-story shows, and the Shirasu Detective Team.

The appeal of volunteer work (an appeal from the TSV Secretariat!)
● Rediscovering the new charms of living creatures and how to enjoy aquariums
Not only visitors, but also the volunteers themselves will be able to discover new charms of the creatures and ways to enjoy the aquarium that they hadn't noticed before.
● Interacting with visitors
It's a very rewarding moment for me when I can share information about the animals with visitors and appreciate their fascinating aspects.
● Interacting with friends who love animals and aquariums
People with similar interests come together to enjoy the activities. There is no compensation or reimbursement for transportation, but volunteering is a very fulfilling experience.
