Shoebill Cart

Ueno Zoo As a new initiative to enhance the attractiveness of Shoebill, the "Hashibiro Kart," a small electric cart with a motif of , will be in operation.

The cart will circle around West Garden" Panda Forest". Part of the course features chronological panels showing animals from around the world that have come to Ueno Zoo. Please enjoy the cart ride and experience the history of Ueno Zoo and visit the facility that used to house Giant Panda.

Please note that a numbered ticket (first-come-first-served) is required to ride the cart. Please refer to the following information for details. We look forward to seeing you on the bus!

Usage Guide

About the "Shoebill Cart"

This is a five-seater electric mini-cart. It automatically travels at a low speed around the course. For safety reasons, one staff member will be in the driver's seat.

Operating area and route

We will take a walk around West Garden and Panda Forest (approximately 4 minutes).

Those who can sit in the cart themselves or with the assistance of a companion and maintain a stable posture until the end of the trip.

There are no seat belts or safety belts to maintain posture.
There are no age restrictions, but the content is geared towards children.

Capacity

A maximum of 4 people per group (children aged 3 and older are included in the count).
Children under elementary school age must be accompanied by a guardian aged 16 or older.
Children aged 0-2 years old must be held by a guardian while riding (one child per guardian, maximum of two children per group).
Boarding is on a per-group basis as per your booking. As a general rule, we do not guide multiple different groups simultaneously.
Depending on the size and other factors of the passengers, even if the vehicle is within its capacity, a group may be asked to board in two separate trips.

The carts will operate even in rainy weather, but will be suspended during severe weather. Please note that operations may also be suspended at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances.

How to board

A numbered ticket obtained through online application is required to board.
Reservations will be accepted from 12:30 PM on the day of operation.
Registration will close once the maximum number of participants is reached.
If cancellations occur after the deadline, registration will automatically reopen at that time.
We are unable to accept registrations for the waiting list.

Safety precautions

To ensure your safety and enjoyment, please observe the following precautions while riding.

1.
Please follow the staff's instructions.
2.
A staff member will guide you to board. Please wait in the designated area.
3.
The area within the driving zone is dangerous. Please do not enter.
4.
Standing up or extending your arms, legs, or body out of the vehicle while it is in motion is extremely dangerous, so please refrain from doing so.
5.
Getting on or off the cart while it's moving is prohibited. Please wait until the cart has come to a complete stop before getting on or off.
6.
You are allowed to take photos, but please be careful not to drop Kawakawa or camera.
7.
Children who cannot sit on their own should be held securely on their parent's lap or in a baby carrier, and should be supervised by a parent or guardian to ensure their safety during the ride.
8.
Please be careful as there is a slope in part of the road.
9.
If staff determine that boarding would be detrimental to safe operation, we may refuse your boarding.

Other precautions

Ueno Zoo does not currently keep Giant Panda.
Animal observation is not permitted while the cart is in motion.
If you miss the designated boarding time, you will not be able to board for any reason. Please check the boarding time displayed on your ticket and arrive at the "boarding/alighting area (cart boarding area)" at least 5 minutes before the boarding time closes.
Please refrain from soliciting passengers from an unspecified number of people.
Please refrain from eating or drinking while on board.
Depending on the operating conditions, there may be a slight delay before you can board. Thank you for your understanding.
The operating schedule may change due to weather conditions or other reasons.
Service may be suspended unexpectedly due to weather conditions, vehicle problems, or other unforeseen circumstances.
If you are unable to board after making a reservation, please be sure to cancel your reservation. If you repeatedly fail to board without canceling your reservations, we may refuse your future reservations.
Our staff cannot take your camera and take photos for you. Thank you for your understanding.
