Tokyo Metropolitan Zoos and Aquariums prioritize fostering a deeper understanding of wild animals and their habitats, and protecting and nurturing ecosystems where humans and animals coexist. They continue their efforts to pass on rich natural environments to future generations through multifaceted conservation activities and various research projects aimed at protecting wild animals.

Wildlife Conservation Project
Many wildlife species are at risk of extinction, and the risk has increased in recent years.
Tokyo Metropolitan Zoos and Aquariums are promoting Wildlife Conservatio Center as part of the "Wildlife Conservation Project," which includes in-situ conservation activities, collaboration with external organizations such as the Ministry of the Environment and other groups, original surveys and research, and public awareness campaigns.

Tokyo Metropolitan Zoos and Aquariums conduct research to deepen understanding of the ecology and reproduction of wild animals through collaboration with universities and other research institutions as well as their own initiatives. The captive environment allows for continuous observation and recording, and the knowledge gained is used to improve animal welfare and in conservation activities.
ZooStock Project
ZooStock Project
The Zoo Stock Plan is a plan formulated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 1989 to protect and breed rare animals kept and exhibited at metropolitan zoos and aquariums.
Currently, in light of the changing circumstances surrounding Tokyo Metropolitan Zoos and Aquariums, we are promoting the "Second Zoo Stock Plan," which was formulated in fiscal year 2018.

In order to protect biodiversity and pass on the irreplaceable global environment to future generations, Tokyo Zoological Park Society has formulated the Global Environmental Conservation Action Strategy as a guide for leading actions toward global environmental conservation at Tokyo Metropolitan zoos and aquariums, and is promoting initiatives based on four strategies.
