background

Bird House and bird cages in East Garden of Ueno Zoo ceased operations in June 2025 due to the aging of the facilities.

Some of the birds that were kept at this facility are still on display at other facilities within the park. On the other hand, birds that are difficult to display within the park are being moved to other facilities that have suitable living environments.

We are pleased to announce that the Crested Partridge, Nile Plover, and Green-winged Macaw will be moved to Kakegawa Kachoen (Kakegawa Flower and Bird Park).

With this transfer, we will be ending our keeping of Nile plovers and Green-winged macaws at Ueno Zoo.
