The six-banded armadillo, sable dove, and golden Azure-winged Magpie starling will be moved to Chiba City Zoological Park.

We would like to inform you that the following animals currently being kept at Ueno Zoo will be removed from the premises.

Animals to be transported

Six-banded armadillo, male, 1 (arrived at the zoo on May 12, 2011)
One male Siberian White-winged Dove (arrived at the park on May 2, 2017)
Golden Azure-winged Magpie Starling, sex unknown, 1 (arrived at the zoo on August 22, 2005)

Six-banded Armadillo

It is currently on display in the "Small Mammal House" in West Garden. The exhibition at Ueno Zoo is scheduled to end on Sunday, June 28th.

Black-Azure-winged Magpie Starling

The birds were previously on display at Bird House, but due to reconstruction work related to the aging of the facility, the exhibit was closed in June 2025, and since then they have been kept in a private facility.

With this removal, the keeping of the six-banded armadillo, sable dove, and golden Azure-winged Magpie starling at Ueno Zoo will come to an end.
