Among birds, you can see members of the pheasant family, which have particularly beautiful colors and shapes. You can also see Red-headed Wood Pigeon which lives only on the Ogasawara Islands, here. It is one of the species that Ueno Zoo is focusing on breeding. Further ahead are Eurasian Otter. You can observe them swimming freely in a transparent acrylic tank that stretches out onto the garden path, up close. If you go further up the slope, you can see a variety of birds of prey, including Ural Owl and eagles.
