Ueno Zoo We will be holding the “Ueno ZOO School,” a hands-on program where participants learn about animals and the work done at animal keeper through hands-on animal care experiences. This time, we are accepting applications from 5th and 6th graders.

Important points to note when applying
(1) Each person may only apply once. Also, only one entry per person is allowed. Please note that multiple entries from the same person will be considered invalid.
(2) Those who have participated in "Ueno Zoo School 2025 (Elementary School 5th and 6th Graders)" are not eligible to apply.
(3) In the mornings, you will be doing physical labor, such as moving around and carrying heavy objects. Therefore, a certain level of physical fitness is required.
(4) The animal care experience may involve getting close to animals, touching them, being exposed to feed that may contain allergens, and working in areas with a lot of dust and dirt. For this reason, if you have any related allergies or symptoms such as asthma, please consider carefully before applying, such as by consulting with a doctor, and refrain from applying if your symptoms are severe.
*If you apply without disclosing allergies, or if you disclose allergies after being selected, we may refuse your participation. If you have any questions, please contact our facility before applying.
(5) You cannot specify which animal you would like to care for during the animal care experience (*). You may be asked to care for a variety of animals, including amphibians and reptiles such as frogs and snakes, birds including birds of prey, large mammals, and carnivorous animals. You may also be asked to handle insects, rodents, and other animals that serve as their food. Please be aware of this.
*If you are particularly interested in working animal keeper for amphibians or reptiles, please specify this in your application.
Important information for the day
(1) We will be taking photos and videos of the program for publicity and record-keeping purposes. Please be aware that these may be used in promotional materials such as our website.
(2) Parents are not permitted to observe their children performing animal care tasks.
