Ueno Zoo will be holding "Autumn Night Zoo" for four days only, from Friday, October 9th to Monday, October 12th, 2026, extending its opening hours until 8 PM. Enjoy the unique autumn night experience at the zoo, observing animals at night that you wouldn't normally see, listening to the sounds of insects amidst the zoo's rich natural environment.

Notice regarding expected congestion

The park is expected to be extremely crowded during the evening opening period. For your reference, we are providing a forecast of crowd levels for the next four days.

Entry is from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and exit is by 8:00 PM. You can enter and exit the park from any of the following gates: East Garden Main Gate, West Garden Benten Gate, or the Ikenohata Gate.

Closing time for viewing major animals and exhibits

During this period, the closing time (end of viewing) will be different from usual. Further details will be announced at a later date.

For the health and safety of the animals, viewing may be restricted before the scheduled closing time. Also, exhibits may be canceled or changed depending on the animals' health condition. Thank you for your understanding.

Last Order

Food is available until 7 PM. After that, only drinks are served.

An instrumental band that plays traditional Irish music, formed in 2024 within a club at Tokyo University of the Arts.

Night Vivarium

Vivarium will hold a "Night Vivarium" event in a darker than usual facility, where you can observe animals while feeling the nighttime atmosphere. You might see animals that are different from their usual behavior. Please enjoy it.

Button Badge Workshop

We will make pin badges together with the facility staff who manage the plants and other things within the zoo.

Plants growing in the park are placed in pin badges, allowing you to take them home and observe them.

Facility staff will prepare plants that grow in the park in advance. Participants can enjoy the variety of colors and shapes of plants by choosing and arranging them themselves.

How to apply

Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. Please come to the registration area when registration time begins.

If the event is canceled due to rain, strong winds, etc., we will announce it on the day of the event via the park's public address system and on Ueno Zoo official X account.
In addition, we will be holding a variety of special events during the “Autumn Night Zoo” period. Details will be announced on this website, via in-park announcements on the day of the event, on the official X account at Ueno Zoo, and on the official Instagram account at Ueno Zoo.

Requests and Precautions for All Visitors

1.
Animal exhibits and events may be canceled or changed depending on the animals' condition, weather, etc.
2.
Some areas will be closed to the public after the animals' viewing hours have ended.
3.
Please refrain from using flash photography on animals.
4.
Do not point flashlights or other lights at animals; use them only to illuminate your surroundings.
5.
There are areas in the park with many mosquitoes. They may still be present even in October, so please use insect repellent as needed.
6.
There is no parking available at Ueno Zoo. Nearby parking lots are expected to be crowded, so we recommend using public transportation.
