Ueno Zoo is once again holding a "Slogan Contest on Animal Welfare" as part of its events leading up to Animal Welfare Week (September 20th (Sun) - September 26th (Sat)). Please submit your entry when you visit the zoo!

Eligibility

Anyone can apply.

How to Apply

Free rest areas within the park (East Garden and one in West Garden)
The application form is provided in the application box that will be set up.
Please fill in the required information and drop it into the submission box.

Please note that applications cannot be submitted on days when the park is closed.
The personal information you provide when applying will only be used to contact you regarding this event.
Furthermore, we will strictly manage personal information, including data storage and deletion.

Winners Announcement

We will select five winning entries and seven honorable mentions, and contact the winners by phone by Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Winners will also receive a commemorative gift.

The winning entries, along with the winners' addresses (up to the prefecture level), names, and ages, will be posted on Ueno Zoo official website and also displayed within the zoo.

Outstanding entries will be submitted to the 51st Animal Welfare Slogan Contest, a national central judging event held by Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums as part of Animal Welfare Week. If an entry wins the Minister of the Environment Award, Gold Award, or Silver Award, it will receive a certificate and medal. Entries that are not selected will receive a participation award badge.

The copyright of the winning entries belongs to Tokyo Zoological Park Society, and the copyright of the works that receive awards at the national central judging belongs to Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Please note that your application may be invalidated in the following cases:
- If the same work is submitted by two or more kindergartens. Also, if it is clearly the same work (e.g., written differently in kanji and hiragana).
- If it is discovered that you applied using someone else's name.
