We are looking for zoo volunteers!

We are recruiting members for the "Tokyo Zoo Volunteers (TZV)," who will provide information about the animals and give tours of the zoo to visitors. There are two groups of zoo volunteers with different activities (Docent Group and Service Guide Group), and this time we are recruiting for the "Docent Group."​

*Recruitment for the service guide group is scheduled for September.

What is the Docent Group (DG)?

We conduct educational outreach activities such as "animal demonstration" who explain the animals to visitors. Prior to these activities, you will acquire knowledge about animals and the zoo through training and other means.

*This activity does not involve supporting animal care work.
*This is an unpaid activity. Transportation expenses and other allowances will not be provided.

Ueno Zoo, Tama Zoo, Inokashira Park Zoo

Number of people recruiting

40 people (total across all 3 kindergartens)

Eligibility

(1) People who enjoy interacting with animals and people
(2) Those who can continue to participate in group activities and collective activities.
(3) Persons aged 18 or older (as of April 1, 2027)
(4) Those who can participate in the activities for at least two days a month.
(5) Someone who can be contacted by email
(6) Those who can attend the first training session to be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026 (venue: Ueno)

Those interested should attend the information session. Please see below for dates and application procedures.

*Application details will be announced at the information session.
*You will become a full member after participating in training sessions and activities held between October 2026 and February 2027, and receiving certification in late March.
