event
April 22, 2026

Ueno Zoo, Japan's first zoo, which is celebrating its 144th anniversary, has many historical buildings remaining. The tour will take you to some of these, including the former five-Five-storied Pagoda of Toeizan Kan'ei-ji Temple, a nationally important cultural property with a history of 387 years since its construction; the Kankan-Kankan-tei (tea ceremony house), built by Todo Takatora and rebuilt in 1878; and Former Mail Gate, which retains the appearance of early 20th-century Japanese-style Versailles architecture. On the day of the tour, staff members who are in charge of maintaining the zoo's facilities will provide explanations about each building in guided tour format.

Details are as follows. No prior registration is required. We encourage you to participate.
