East Garden: Elephant Forest
East Garden: Elephant Forest
Many plants have been planted around the zoo to mimic the forests of Southeast Asia. Also, a large amount of water is essential for the lives of Asian Elephant. There is a deep pond where the elephants can lie down and immerse their entire bodies, and through glass you can observe them up close using their long trunks to drink and bathe. Most of the ground is soil, which is designed to protect the heavy elephants' feet from injury and also allows them to take as many dust baths as they like.
