The higher the category in each table, the higher the risk of extinction, and CR, EN, and VU are the three categories known as "endangered species." In Tokyo, species that are not at the NT (near threatened) level but are relatively rare are considered "species of concern."

Manul means small wild cat in Mongolian. It lives in hilly areas such as rocky areas and canyons. Compared to other cats, the Manul's ears are positioned low (on the sides of the face), which is thought to be convenient for hiding behind rocks and stalking prey. Another distinctive feature is that its pupils are round, rather than vertical.
