The higher the category in each table, the higher the risk of extinction, and CR, EN, and VU are the three categories known as "endangered species." In Tokyo, species that are not at the NT (near threatened) level but are relatively rare are considered "species of concern."

Heterocephalus glaber
Unusually for mammals, they live in "eusocial" colonies like ants and bees. Only one queen can give birth, and the others are divided into roles such as breeding males, soldiers, and odd jobs. Because they live underground where there is little change in temperature or humidity, they do not need to regulate their body temperature and have little hair. Also, because it is dark inside the tunnels, their eyes have degenerated.
