September 22nd: Memorial service for animals at Ueno Zoo– expressing gratitude to the animals.

Ueno Zoo will hold an "Animal Memorial Service" to express gratitude to the animals that died during the year from September 2025 to August 2026. In addition, panels featuring representative animals will be displayed around the Animal Cenotaph in East Garden from September 19th (Saturday) to October 4th (Sunday).

We hope that you will all take the time to remember the animals that hold special memories for you.

Our garden does not provide flowers for memorial services.
During park opening hours, you may place any flowers you bring on the table in front of Animal Cenotaph. However, due to measures to control wild animals in the park, we ask that you refrain from offering anything other than flowers.

A memorial service will be held for park staff only before the park opens.
