Wildcat animal keeper Animal Diary No. 7
May 29, 2026
Up until now, in "The Wildcat animal keeper 's Animal Diary," we've talked about various aspects of wildcat behavior and points to observe. This time, in "2025 in Pictures," we'll introduce the wildcats through several photographs.
First up is Tali, a male Amur Leopard Cat cat. One morning in May 2025, he was quietly resting on a platform that appeared to be about 20cm square from the outside.
When the cat is resting, be especially careful not to make any large movements while cleaning or checking on the situation.
Even then, only its ears were moving in response to sounds, as if trying to detect our movements. I suspect that if it were feeling unwell, it wouldn't choose to rest in this place.
The place where I rest varies depending on the weather and my mood at the time. This photo was taken while paying attention to those subtle differences.
The next photo is also Tali...
At that time, before the cleaning began, the cat was resting with its back against a branch placed on a table, so I took a picture of it in that state.
However, perhaps my movements when raising the camera were too large, as she looked at me as if to say, "What's wrong?", interrupting her precious rest. This photo captures her saying, "I'm fine today, but I'd like to stay like this a little longer..."
Finally, here's one more photo of me relaxing.
At the end of December, the three brothers gathered together for a warm and relaxing time. It was a heartwarming sight, and watching them brought peace to my own heart.
