On October 17th and 18th, we will be holding "Island Wildlife Expo -Tsushima Leopard Cat Cats Connecting the Island and Us".

Inokashira Park Zoo is engaged in the conservation, breeding, and education of animals that inhabit the islands of Japan, including the endangered Tsushima Leopard Cat cat that lives on Tsushima Land Snail in Nagasaki Prefecture, as well as the land snail (Ogasawara Islands, Tokyo), Amami-oshima Island Spiny Rat (Amami Oshima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture), and Lidth's Jay (Amami Oshima Island and surrounding areas, Kagoshima Prefecture).

Every year, the "Wildcat Festival" has been a popular event where organizations involved in wildlife conservation in Tsushima, the Ogasawara Islands, and Amami Oshima gather together and interact directly with many visitors. This year, an organization that promotes the charm of Tokyo's village forest will also join, and the event will be held under the new name "Island Wildlife Expo -Tsushima Leopard Cat Wildcats Connecting the Islands and Us".

We have prepared a variety of activities for everyone from young children to adults, including a stamp rally around the exhibition booths, talk events by conservation groups, animal guides by animal keeper, workshops, and storytelling sessions. Why not experience a time to learn and think while having fun, from the nature around us to the creatures of distant islands?

An exhibition by an organization working to conserve wildlife.

This section introduces wildlife inhabiting Japan's island regions, including Tsushima Leopard Cat, as well as the activities of various organizations working to conserve village forest.

Tsushima City / Tsushima Tourism and Products Association / Funashi Forest Creation Promotion Committee
We will be selling goods related to the Tsushima wildcat, a wildcat that inhabits the border island of Tsushima Leopard Cat, and will also be holding an exhibition about the nature of Tsushima.

NPO Tsushima Leopard Cat Protection Society
This is a private organization established to protect Tsushima Leopard Cat. We aim to create an environment where Tsushima Leopard Cat and humans can coexist. At our booth, we will raise awareness for their protection through the sale of merchandise and other means.

Animal Hospital (NPO)
This is an animal hospital that provides rescue services for wild animals such as Tsushima Leopard Cat, as well as veterinary care and promotion of responsible pet ownership. We will be introducing our activities, selling leopard cat merchandise, and offering a leopard cat-themed board game.

Certified NPO Tiger and Elephant Conservation Fund
This exhibit showcases the various activities of the JTEF (Japan Teething Emerging Farm) branch's Wildcat Patrol, aimed at protecting the Iriomote wildcat, which inhabits Iriomote Island (Okinawa Prefecture), from traffic accidents. A picture story show for children will also be presented.

Gifu University, Center for Zoo Biology Research, Animal Conservation and Reproduction Laboratory
This section introduces conservation and breeding research being conducted with zoos nationwide, Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and the Ministry of the Environment, focusing on various endangered species, including Tsushima Leopard Cat.

Nippon Veterinary and Life Science University, Unit of Nutritional Biochemistry
In our ex-situ conservation activities for Tsushima Leopard Cat, we are conducting research and developing technologies related to Tsushima Leopard Cat 's nutrition.

This report details the activities undertaken in Tsushima in September 2026 to prevent traffic accidents involving Tsushima Leopard Cat leopard cats.

Japan Center for Natural Environment Research
I conduct research on the conservation of the natural environment. I will introduce a variety of snails, focusing on the snails of the Ogasawara Islands, which we are also raising and breeding at Inokashira Park Zoo.

Amami City Amami Museum
We will introduce animals that inhabit Amami Oshima, a registered natural heritage site, through taxidermied specimens and photographs, and will also sell local products.

Tokyo Metropolitan Biodiversity Promotion Center
Under the theme of "Connecting Tokyo's rich nature to the future," visitors can learn about the creatures found in conservation areas, mainly in the Tama region, and experience making pendants from thinned timber.

Patagonia Tokyo Kichijoji
This event introduces efforts to address marine plastic waste that has washed ashore in Tsushima. You can also experience making keychains from upcycled fishing nets collected locally.

This is a workshop that requires advance registration. We are pleased to invite wildlife artist Munenori Okada, who was in charge of the reconstruction drawing of the Japanese wolf for NHK's "Darwin Comes to Town!", to be our instructor for Tsushima Leopard Cat cat drawing class.
