August 1st: Explore Familiar Creatures - Discover the Secrets of Cicada Emergence at the Nighttime Cultural Park! Participants Wanted! (Application Deadline: July 17th)

At Inokashira Park Zoo, we offer an activity called "Exploring Local Creatures," where visitors can search for wild animals within the park and discover the fascinating aspects of their lifestyles.

This time, we will be holding "Discovering the Secrets of Cicada Emergence at the Nighttime Cultural Park!", an event themed around cicada emergence, for children aged elementary school and older and their families. The content is suitable for beginners.

In the summer, around sunset, cicada nymphs emerge from the ground and move to high places such as tree trunks to molt. Join the zoo staff as we tour the park after closing time and carefully observe the molting process. We will also make specimens from the cicada exoskeletons.

What to bring

A flashlight (one per person is recommended), insect repellent, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, comfortable walking shoes, and drinks.

*Please refrain from wearing sandals to prevent injuries.
*Please take sufficient precautions against the heat, as the event will be held during a hot period.
