Daylilies belong to the Myosophical family, not the Liliaceae family.
Unlike lilies, daylilies are ephemeral flowers that bloom for only a day, and multiple buds grow on a single stem.
Another characteristic is that the tips of the petals do not curl back, but instead open in a trumpet shape.
