Mobile Aquarium

What is a traveling aquarium?

The marine creatures from Tokyo Sea Life Park will be coming to you in their special truck, "Umikuru-go," and wagon, "Isokuru-go"!

The exhibit features colorful fish that live in the coral reefs and creatures that live in Tokyo Bay right in front of you.
Why not experience the fascinating world of living creatures and nature by observing and touching the animals as they swim with our zoo staff?

I'm going to places like this

The mobile aquarium is aimed at people who have difficulty visiting the aquarium due to disabilities or illnesses.

The costs of operating the dedicated trucks and vans, as well as the implementation of the program, will be borne by our facility.

Main target of implementation

As a general rule, the following facilities, events, etc. within Tokyo (excluding islands) are eligible.

1. Special needs schools, hospitals, social welfare facilities, etc. where people have difficulty visiting the facility

As a general rule, kindergartens, regular elementary, junior high and high schools, and nurseries are not included.

2. Educational events

In principle, the purpose of these events is to raise awareness of living creatures and the natural environment, to have a high level of public interest (sponsored, co-sponsored, or sponsored by the national or local government), and not to make a profit.

What kind of vehicle is a mobile aquarium?

Dedicated truck "Umikuru-go"

The dedicated truck, "Umikuru-go," is based on a truck approximately 8 meters long, and is equipped with two water tanks (each weighing approximately 1.6 tons) on the loading platform.
There are tropical and temperate tanks, and each tank can be viewed from either side of a dedicated track.

Wagon "Isokuru"

The "Isokuru-go" van will accompany the dedicated truck, carrying aquariums for the interaction program, as well as specimens and panels for explanations.

You can create a program like this

Coral reef creatures

The creatures that live on coral reefs are extremely diverse in shape, color, and pattern.
Why does it look like this?
As you observe the creatures in the aquarium together, we will explain in an easy-to-understand way the structure of fish bodies and their lifestyles, including the ways they eat and protect themselves.

Creatures of Tokyo Bay

While introducing the best places to observe familiar creatures in Tokyo Bay, such as horse mackerel and sea bream,
We will explain in an easy-to-understand manner the relationship between the structure of the body and our daily lives, from the perspective of food and other topics.

Interaction Program

You will observe sea urchins, starfish, and other creatures of the seashore, and while touching the specimens, you will be given an easy-to-understand explanation of their body structure and lifestyle.
There are also programs that use fish skin, teeth, and other materials to learn about the characteristics of each creature.
