About Tokyo Sea Life Park

Our goal

By having fun, you can deepen your awareness of the natural environment of the sea, rivers, and ponds, and your scientific understanding of aquatic life.
An aquarium that reconnects, communicates, and weaves together the relationship between people, living things, and water

Features

Located inside Kasai Rinkai Park, this aquarium allows you to encounter over 500 species of ocean creatures from around the world, as well as familiar aquatic creatures.
The glass dome at the entrance is eye-catching.

Inside the aquarium, you can see Pacific Bluefin Tuna of bluefin tuna swimming in a huge 2,200m3 donut-shaped tank, and penguins swimming around in one of Japan's largest penguin exhibition areas.

history

Tokyo Sea Life Park was planned as part of the Tokyo Bay Area Development Project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of Ueno Zoo, and opened in 1989 with the aim of becoming a place for interaction between humans and the sea.

The aquarium is home to a massive 2,200m3 tank, the first in the world to display a school of Pacific Bluefin Tuna, and in 1999 it also became the first in the world to successfully spawn in an aquarium.

Other exhibits include over 100 penguins, a wide variety of creatures collected from all over the world in the "World's Oceans" area, and creatures from the oceans stretching from Tokyo Bay to the Ogasawara Islands in the "Tokyo Oceans" area.
