Chimpanzee "Peach" and "Plum" arrived safely at Shizuoka City Nihondaira Zoo, and the transfer process was completed around 2 PM.

Chimpanzee keeping zoos and aquariums affiliated with Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums are cooperating with each other to promote breeding programs with the aim of maintaining a healthy Chimpanzee population in Japanese zoos for the future.

Our zoo will continue to work with other zoos and aquariums to improve the environment for the transport and arrival of chimpanzees, and to ensure a better future for Chimpanzee.

Tama Zoo will be transferring its Chimpanzee, Peach and Plum, to Shizuoka Municipal Nihondaira Zoo (Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture).

At our zoo, we are working to maintain the genetic diversity of Chimpanzee, which are endangered animals, by promoting breeding through mutual cooperation with other zoos and aquariums that keep them.
In accordance with the Chimpanzee management plan of the Japanese Association Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums, we will be moving the chimpanzees through a breeding loan (a loan agreement between zoos for the purpose of breeding) in order to aim for new breeding efforts.
