At the indoor enclosure Asian Elephant at Tama Zoo, new explanatory panels and videos showing a day in the life of the elephants have been added, utilizing parts of the glass surfaces and permanent monitors.
The location is the "female elephant indoor exhibit" in the valley where Asian Elephant live. For more details, please see the location and photos on the map.
Those who observed the elephants from the observation deck should go down the stairs towards Mouflon, while those who came from Water Buffalo should head straight from the "Water Buffalo Path" towards the roof of the building.
The video being shown provides a brief explanation of Tama Zoo "Amara" (female, 22 years old), "Vidura" (male, 19 years old), and "Anura" (male, estimated 73 years old), all of whom are currently being kept at Tama Zoological Park.
Furthermore, you'll not only get to see how the elephants spend their time during opening hours, but also how they spend their nights, something you don't usually get to see. You'll be amazed to see their massive bodies lying down as they sleep. You'll also get to see the elephants from the perspective of animal keeper, so we hope you'll enjoy seeing them from a different viewpoint than usual.
In addition, panels have been posted on the glass surfaces of the indoor exhibit area for the female elephants. By observing the elephants in conjunction with the panels, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of things that are difficult to see just by looking at them from a distance, such as the soles of their feet, the food they are given, their behavior, bodies, and ecology.
