On November 28th and 29th, we will be holding a seabird event called "Gather, Orolon!"

event
November 2, 2026

At Tokyo Sea Life Park, Common Murre (also known as the Orolon bird) is the town's symbol, and in November 2018, we signed a partnership agreement with Haboro Town, Hokkaido, which is working towards the coexistence of humans and seabirds. As part of our joint projects with Haboro Town, we will be holding the event "Gather, Orolon!" again this year.

This event will offer a fun and educational opportunity to spark interest in seabirds and the natural environment through "Ororon Talk," a talk event by members working on the conservation of Common Murre. A related product fair will also be held. Please come and join us!

Talk event "Ororon Talk"

This talk event aims to help you learn more about Common Murre, a Common Murre that inhabits Hokkaido, by discussing what kind of bird it is and the current state of Common Murre natural environment.

Content

This event will explore the allure of Common Murre and introduce Common Murre Island, where they live, as a globally valuable seabird breeding ground. Representatives from Haboro Town (where Teuri Island is located), the Ministry of the Environment, and Tokyo Sea Life Park will passionately discuss efforts to protect Common Murre, whose population once drastically declined, incorporating recent breeding trends. After the event, we will observe Common Murre together while listening to a "feeding time guide" in the "seabird ecology" area.

Orobo, the mascot character of Haboro Town

This is Orobo, the official character of Haboro Town. He's often mistaken for a penguin, but he's actually a seabird called an Orolon bird (Common Murre). He loves his hat, which is made from sweet shrimp, a specialty of Haboro.
