Exhibition contents
The exhibition consists of four areas: "Taberu no Magica," "Zozozo no Magica," "Mikuro no Magica," and "Nozoite Magica."
Taberno Magica
You can learn about the diverse ways living things eat through videos and specimens.
Most living creatures eat something. They have different mouth shapes and eating methods, so if you observe living creatures and pay attention to what they eat and how they eat, you will make many fun discoveries.
Zozozono Magica
Through videos and specimens, you can learn about the role of sea lice and lugworms in the ecosystem. You can also watch a video of a talk by a lugworm researcher.
Some creatures may have lots of legs or long, thin bodies, and some may even make you cringe. However, if you look closely, you will see how amazing and fascinating they are.
Microno Magica
You can observe small creatures enlarged on a large screen and learn the meaning of their strange shapes.
Although we cannot see them, there are many tiny creatures living all around us. For example, in the sand and seawater on the beach right in front of the aquarium, there are many diverse creatures with strange shapes.
Nozoitemajika
Through photographs of living creatures, we introduce the fact that there are many different creatures living in places close to us.
Even in places where seaweed grows thick and it seems there is nothing there at first glance, if you look closely you may find that many small creatures are hiding, and that even a single drop of seawater can contain a variety of plankton, which may make you realize the fascinating aspects of nature.
Educational Program
At "Ikimono Magica," staff members hold educational programs. The programs are held twice a day, and each time they focus on a different theme, and talk about the creatures while observing them together with you. For more information, please click here.
