Did you know that elephants are endangered?
World Elephant Day (August 12th) was established in 2012 to raise awareness worldwide about the protection of elephants, which are endangered due to poaching and habitat destruction.
Why not learn more about elephants and think about them at Tama Zoo?

During the event, Tama Zoo is holding the 'Summer Night@Tama Zoo 2026.' On summer nights, you can carefully observe two types of elephants while listening to the caretakers.

Let's try making elephant dung out of a large piece of origami paper!

Using large origami paper with an elephant dung pattern, we'll make paper balloons the same size as elephant dung. It's a fun event where you can get a real sense of the size of elephant dung.

Look closely at the elephant and bingo!

The Tokyo Zoo Volunteers (TZV) docent group, which operates within the zoo, will be distributing an observation sheet called "Observe the Elephants Closely and Play Bingo!" to make elephant observation even more enjoyable. Observe Asian Elephant during the "Summer Night @ Tama Zoo 2026" event and discover their charm. Participants will receive Asian Elephant postcard as a gift.

Limited to 200 copies each day. Available while supplies last.
In case of rain, the event will be held in the indoor viewing area of Asian Elephant elephant enclosure.
The event will be canceled if a special heatstroke warning is issued.

Sales of goods to support wildlife conservation activities.

This article introduces the activities of the certified NPO Tiger and Elephant Conservation Fund.
We will also be selling merchandise where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to conservation activities for wild animals such as elephants.
