Tama Zoo is hosting "Autumn School," a program for elementary school students where they can learn about animal anatomy and animal care techniques while closely observing animals. Two courses are available: one for grades 1-3 and another for grades 4-6. We encourage you to participate.

Discover new fascinating aspects of Asian Elephant through hands-on experiences with their care, observation, and tours of their enclosures.

Learn Asian Elephant from the perspective of animal keeper, including what kind of animal they are and how they are cared for in zoos.

If there are many applicants, a lottery will be held, and we will notify everyone, regardless of whether they are selected or not, by Thursday, October 29th.

Precautions

Each person may only apply once. Furthermore, only one entry per person is allowed. Please note that multiple entries from the same applicant will be considered invalid.
This program is for registered children only. Siblings and guardians are not permitted to participate or observe (observation is possible from the "reflection time" 10 minutes before the end of the 1st-3rd grade course and 1 hour before the end of the 4th-6th grade course).
The 1st-3rd grade course will include activities such as observing and touching guinea pigs up close, while the 4th-6th grade course will include hands-on experience in caring for Asian Elephant, such as cleaning the enclosure and preparing their food, including hay. Please be aware of any allergies (to animal fur, house dust, plants, etc.) or asthma, and refrain from applying if your symptoms are severe. If you have any concerns, please contact the zoo before applying.
We will conduct a survey after the program is completed, so we ask for your cooperation.
The program will be documented with photographs and videos, which may be used in reports, public relations materials, etc., in a way that does not identify individuals.
