Tasmanian Devil is endemic to Kawakawa, Australia, and is an endangered species. Tama Zoo has been participating in the "Ambassador Devil Program," an initiative to protect Tasmanian Devil, since 2016, and has welcomed and begun raising Tasmanian Devil as animal ambassadors.

Tama Zoo has been conducting public awareness campaigns to convey the charm and current situation of the Tasmanian Devil through its exhibit, which is the only one of its kind in Japan.
In 2024, we held a special exhibition to coincide with the arrival of two female zookeepers, "YT" and "Papity," and received generous support from many visitors when we appealed for donations to support the affected area.

Although the transfer of the donated funds was completed in July 2024, we held an online formal donation presentation ceremony from our facility to the local stakeholders on October 21st of last year (2025).
In conjunction with this event, we received a report from Kawakawa on how the donations we sent are being used for activities and research there. We also reported on the current situation of YT and Papity, who have been at Tama Zoo for a year and a half, as well as our public awareness activities to date.

This online meeting will be posted on YouTube. Please take a look.
