Tama Zoo will be holding a nature observation event where you can observe wild Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel.
This year, we will first learn about the ecology and habitat of Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel flying squirrel at the TAKAO 599 MUSEUM, and then move to Takao-san Yakuo-in Temple to observe wild Japanese Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel after sunset. Why not join us in learning about the unique lifestyle of Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel flying Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel and the forest environment in which they live?

Lecture "The Ecology and Observation of Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel" at the 2nd Floor Citizen's Gallery
Lecturer: Hiroyuki Okazaki (Former teacher at Chuo University Junior and Senior High School, and head of Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel Nature Exploration School)
Mr. Okazaki, who has been involved in field research on Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel on Mount Takao for many years, will talk about the lives of Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel flying squirrels, methods of observation in the field, and what has been learned about their distribution on Mount Takao and the stress Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel experience.
Preparation for departure (toilet, etc.)
Departure from TAKAO 599 MUSEUM
Take the cable car from Kiyotaki Station.
Arrived at the Takaosan Cable Car Station.
We moved around while observing the flying Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel 's habitat and searching for feeding traces.
Arrive at Yakuoin Temple, have dinner (eat snacks brought by each person), and take a break.

Observation begins
After the observation was finished, we walked to the Takaosan Cable Car station.
Take the cable car from Takaosan Station (next departure at 8:00 PM).
Arrived at Kiyotaki Station, disbanded.
*The schedule is approximate. Observation times and schedules may change depending on the appearance of flying Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel, etc.
*This involves walking on mountain trails for a total of approximately 1.5 hours at night.
*The event will be canceled in case of severe weather forecasts. In case of rain, only the lecture at TAKAO 599 MUSEUM will be held, and the observation will be canceled.
*Please note that Japanese Giant Flying Squirrel are wild animals and may not always be visible.
*Flash photography is not permitted.
*Please take your own trash with you when you leave.
