We will be holding an event to commemorate "World Chimpanzee Day".
event
June 18, 2026
July 14th is "World Chimpanzee Day".
This day was established in 2018 to commemorate the day when Dr. Jane Goodall, a leading expert in wild Chimpanzee research who passed away in October 2025, first set foot in Gombe (now Gombe Stream National Park), a Chimpanzee habitat in Africa.
(#WorldChimpanzeeDay)
This day is also an opportunity to raise awareness among people around the world about Chimpanzee, one of the apes most closely related to humans, and to encourage them to think about their protection and conservation.
This year, in conjunction with World Chimpanzee Day, Tama Zoo will once again be holding events to encourage greater interest in wild Chimpanzee. We hope that these events will serve as an opportunity for you to think about what you can do for Chimpanzee.

We sell original products!
To coincide with World Chimpanzee Day, we are selling original hand towels featuring designs inspired by the daily lives of Chimpanzee at Tama Zoo supervised by the park's animal keeper.
The illustrations depict the daily lives of Chimpanzee at Tama Zoo, showing them licking juice from artificial anthills with sticks and cracking nuts with hammers. The illustrations also recreate the characteristic of chimpanzees' faces turning black as they mature. The background is sprinkled with the vegetables they normally eat.
