*On days with high temperatures, the animals will be allowed to move freely between the enclosure and the indoor area, so you may not be able to view the exhibits.
*Depending on the mother and child's condition, the event may be canceled or the schedule may be changed without prior notice.
*Please refrain from taking photos in the same spot for extended periods. We ask for your consideration and cooperation in sharing the viewing area.
Regarding naming
My child's name is Minato.
Inspired by his father's name, "Hama," we searched for a name related to the sea. Furthermore, since he was born in Minazuki (June), we decided on the name "Minato."
We are pleased to announce that Golden Takin was born at Tama Zoo.
This will be our first successful breeding in approximately seven years, since 2019.

Mother: Nazuna (8 years old)
Born on January 10, 2018 Tama Zoo
Father: Hama (6 years old)
Born on July 16, 2019 Tama Zoo
Progress
Since the summer of 2025, Nazuna and Hama have been kept together, and during that time, Hama has been observed mounting Nazuna on multiple occasions. In anticipation of a birth around May 2026, preparations have been made to create a suitable environment, and on June 11, 2026, at around 9:00 AM, the zookeepers confirmed the birth of one cub inside the animal enclosure.
This is Nazuna's first birth, and she is calmly raising her pup in a private bedroom. The pup was seen standing up and nursing from its mother earlier that day. We are prioritizing creating a safe and secure environment for both mother and child and are carefully monitoring them.
