Amur Tiger has been born! (Updated 9/16: Please help supervise the cub's exhibition practice.)

Added on September 16, 2026: Regarding children's exhibition practice

Amur Tiger "Ichi" and his cubs "Hibana" and "Tsubomi" may occasionally undergo exhibition practice. As they are getting used to the environment of the exhibit and moving between indoors and outdoors, please observe them quietly so as not to startle them, and please refrain from taking photos in the same spot for extended periods. We ask for your consideration and cooperation in viewing them.

Please note that we are unable to answer inquiries regarding whether or not the exhibition practice will be held, or its schedule. Thank you for your understanding.

Added on July 15, 2026:

We are pleased to announce that we have decided on the names for our children.

The zookeepers came up with plant-related names for the offspring of the pair "Ichi" (female, 11 years old) and "Artyom" (male, 11 years old), naming them "Hibana" and "Tsubomi".

We are pleased to announce that Amur Tiger has been born at Tama Zoo. This marks the first successful breeding at our park in two years, since 2024.

Multiple matings were observed between Ichi and Artyom between January 14th and 16th, 2026. As Ichi did not show signs of further estrus, preparations were made to create a suitable environment for childbirth. Surveillance camera footage showed that Ichi began showing signs of labor around 6:00 AM on May 2nd, and childbirth began around 9:15 AM. It was confirmed that she gave birth to two cubs by 12:00 PM.

This is Ichi's second pregnancy, and she is calmly raising her baby in a private bedroom. Both mother and child appear to be in good health. Creating a safe and secure environment for the mother is our top priority, and we are carefully monitoring the mother and child.
