Tokyo Friends of the Zoo

Animals and Zoos
Winter 2025 issue (No.737)

Tasmanian Devil the world's largest carnivorous marsupial and lives in Australia.
Tama Zoo first introduced them in 2016 and has kept six of them to date.
The caretaker who has been involved since the animal's introduction looks back on the past.

We will also introduce the efforts being made by Yasuko Suzuki of the NGO BirdLife International to conserve seabirds, as well as the results of research into artificial breeding techniques for Southern Rockhopper Penguin Kaiyukan has been working on for many years.

Designers working at Tokyo's zoos and aquariums then discussed "zoo and aquarium design."
What kind of attention to detail and thought goes into the notices and flyers you see around the park?
In addition, the essay corner "Talking about Humans and Animals," which welcomes people active in various fields in each issue, has received a contribution from crocodile researcher Yusuke Fukuda.
