Tokyo Friends of the Zoo

Animals and Animals
Spring 2024 issue (No.734)

The cover features guinea pigs from Inokashira Park Zoo.
In this article, we will introduce the efforts and discoveries made to successfully breed Long-clawed Shrew kept at Tama Zoo.

Taro Nojiri of Juntendo University introduced us to the latest findings on evolution as seen through the formation of body shapes, including the origin of the ultrasound emitted by bats.

In addition, we will bring you news from the zoo, including articles on the growth of Ueno Zoo 's Asian Elephant, Arun, and the construction and training required to change elephant husbandry methods, as well as articles on reviews of interaction activities and new initiatives at Tokyo Metropolitan Zoos and Aquariums.
