Tokyo Friends of the Zoo

Animals and Zoos
Winter 2024 issue (No.733)

Western Gorilla from Ueno Zoo appears on the cover.
In this breeding report, we will introduce the journey of Momo, who will be turning two years old this year, from being artificially raised to returning to the flock.

In "What Marine Mammals That Wash Up on Our Shores" we asked Tajima Momoko of the National Museum of Nature and Science to write about the various things that can be learned through marine surveys and the significance of preserving animal bodies as specimens.

We will also be bringing you a wealth of information, including the efforts being made by zoos to protect rare wild species and research exploring the mystery of egg shapes.
