About the grant recipients

The conservation activities eligible for grants are not limited to those that qualify, but rather organizations or individuals that have at least one year of experience in wildlife conservation activities and whose primary purpose is not political, religious, or profit-making activities.

Eligible activities for the grant

We provide subsidies to activities that contribute to the development and promotion of zoos and aquariums and actively promote wildlife conservation. However, if any of the following applies, the subsidy will not be provided.

Activities in which all or most of the activities are contracted out to other organizations
2.
Activities aimed at generating revenue
3.
Activities with religious or political propaganda intent

Recruitment department

(1) General category

The general category is open to applications in the following three activity areas:

1. Conservation activities

: Practical activities for wildlife conservation

2. Research

: Basic and technical research that contributes to wildlife conservation

3. Public awareness

: Activities aimed at wildlife conservation, aimed at promoting understanding and raising awareness of wildlife and the environment.

(2) Junior and senior high school division

In order to support research driven by the curiosity of the younger generation, we are calling for applications from junior and senior high schools across the country for activities that actively promote wildlife conservation.

The target is junior high schools, high schools, technical colleges, and secondary schools across the country.
The classification of the activity area will be the same as the general category.

(3) Tokyo Zoological Park Society Conservation Partner Category

We are accepting applications for activities (continuing for three years) based on a theme set by our association.
The theme for this year's competition is "Ex situ conservation activities for rare wildlife at Tokyo Metropolitan Zoos and Aquariums" (Appendix 2 of the competition guidelines).

As a "Tokyo Zoological Park Society Conservation Fund Partner," you will work with the association on conservation activities.
When presenting or writing about the results of your activities, please clearly state your title as a "Tokyo Zoological Park Society Conservation Fund Partner."

Subsidy amount

(1) General category

The maximum amount is 1 million yen per year.

(2) Junior and senior high school division

The maximum amount is 500,000 yen per year.

(3) Tokyo Zoological Park Society Conservation Partner Category

The maximum amount is 1.5 million yen per year (continued for three years).

Grant period

(1) General category and (2) Junior and senior high school category

Activities will be carried out between April 1, 2026 and March 31 of the following year.
Even if your activity will continue for several years, please apply for it annually. Grants for ongoing activities are limited to a maximum of three years, and applications are reviewed annually.

(3) Tokyo Zoological Park Society Conservation Partner Category

Activities will be based on publicly solicited themes and will be carried out over a three-year period from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2029.
When applying, you will be required to submit a three-year plan.
