We received many name suggestions for the three Collared Peccary sisters, and held a naming ceremony on October 7, 2006. Incidentally, I mistakenly wrote the wrong number of suggestions in last week's issue. My apologies. The total number of suggestions was an amazing 1,671! Thank you all so much.
And the names are in order from the eldest daughter."Ai," "Mai," "Mii"It has been decided! (An error was found in the ages of the two dogs excluding the eldest daughter, so the order will be corrected to "Ai," "Mii," and "Mai"). The selection criteria included being approachable, easy to remember, easy to pronounce, and having a connection as they are three sisters. Incidentally, some people suggested using the character "亥" (inoshishi, meaning wild boar) for "I."
Other three-part sets include I Love You, Matsuko, Takeko, Umeko, Ton, Chin, Kan, Nozomi, Hikari, Kodama, Hop, Step, Jump, and so on. Individually, we also received many names derived from the "Collared Peccary," such as Kubi, Kuppy, Biwa, Ku, Curry, and Perry.
Six people submitted the combination "Ai, My, Mii." On the day of the event, the people who came up with the name were invited, and director, Teruyuki Komiya, gave a thank you speech and presented them with a gift. Thank you very much!
(Added March 1, 2024) Upon reviewing individual records such as the animal cards, we discovered an error in the ages of two of the animals, excluding the eldest daughter. Therefore, we have corrected and added the information as stated above. We apologize to all the fans who have been watching over the three animals since their arrival at the zoo for providing incorrect information for so long.
