In November 2008, two female pigs from Domestic Pig, native pigs of Okinawa, came to the Children's Zoo at Ueno Zoo, and now a female pig has joined the zoo! (For news of the first two pigs, please see
this way (direction close to the speaker or towards the speaker))
The date of his arrival at the park was October 2, 2009. Her name is "Nabii". It means "pot" in Okinawan dialect. She is one or two sizes smaller than her predecessors "Chiru" and "Kamadei".
On the day of the visit, we brought Nabby, who was still in her cage, face to face with the two senior dogs. We were looking forward to seeing how they would react, but to our surprise, they seemed indifferent to each other and ate their food in silence. After a while, Nabby seemed to be interested in the two dogs outside, and started to look as if she wanted to come out of the cage.
Since neither Chiru nor Kamadeh seemed to be particularly alarmed, we put the three together for a test. Nabby was so curious that she came close to them, but her two older sisters, perhaps surprised by her energy, did not want to come close to her.
On the contrary, they became very cautious at once and started to threaten Nabby when she came close to them. It seems that they are not so easy to be accepted as a family, and we have not succeeded in having all three of them live together yet. Nabby seems to be lonely and wants to be taken in, but her older sisters do not seem to accept the newcomers yet.
We plan to gradually acclimate them so that we can show you the three of them snuggled up and sleeping together as soon as possible.
