Giant Panda cub (female) born at Ueno Zoo on June 12, 2017, is growing well. As reported in
this news article, a physical examination on August 11 showed that her weight had increased to over 3 kilograms (3,010.4 grams) and her body length was 43.9 centimeters.

Name selection
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will select the name from among the submitted names after consideration by the selection committee and consultations with China. Please note that submitted names may be revised or modified, such as by adding kanji characters. The rights to the selected name will belong to Tokyo Zoological Park Society.

Scheduled to be announced
The baby's name will be decided and announced around the end of September 2017, when it will be 100 days old. A lottery will be held among those who submitted the chosen name, and the winner will receive original Ueno Zoo merchandise. In addition, three representatives will be selected from those who receive merchandise and invited to the "Name Announcement Ceremony" to be held at Ueno Zoo.
*The address (up to the city/ward level) and name of the representative being invited will be provided to the website "Tokyo Zoo Net" with their consent.
We also plan to publish it on "UENO-PANDA.JP" and make it public for press release.
*The baby will not be publicly revealed at the "Name Announcement Event."
