At Ueno Zoo, Giant Panda "Xiang Xiang" was born on June 12, 2017.
Until now, the mother (Shin Shin) and her cub (Xiang Xiang) have not been shown to the public. However, based on observations and physical examinations, Xiang Xiang is growing well, and Shin Shin is also in good health. Therefore, we are now announcing that the mother and cub will be made available to the public.
Viewing for mothers and children will be by lottery.For details on how to apply, please see here.

Shinshin (female) was born on July 3, 2005, at the Wolong Conservation Center in China.

Opening hours: 9:45 AM to 12:15 PM (except on days the park is closed)To ensure the health of mothers and children, we will be
limiting the hours of public access until the end of January 2018 (tentative).
*Please note that even during the public viewing hours, the viewing may be suspended due to reasons such as the health condition of the mother and child.
Viewing Instructions
Until the end of January (tentative), when public viewing hours are limited, we will be using a lottery system to allow visitors to view the exhibit at their leisure and to accommodate those who wish to take photographs.
Applications for the lottery will be accepted from Wednesday, December 6th, via a special website and by telephone.
Viewing of Ri Ri (male) is not subject to a lottery. You can view him except in case of severe weather.
Live footageTo allow more people to see what's happening in the panda enclosure during opening hours, we are preparing to release live video footage online.
Details regarding the start date, access methods, and other information will be announced as soon as they are decided.
