A physical examination of Xiang Xiang, Giant Panda born on June 12, 2017, was conducted at approximately 8:14 AM on January 5th, when she was 207 days old. Her weight was 14.6 kg, an increase of 0.1 kg from 14.5 kg on December 25th. Her length was not measured.
Mother "Shin Shin" and Xiang Xiang spend their days in indoor exhibit rooms 2 and 3, as well as the outdoor exercise area (a non-public area). At night, they spend their time in indoor exhibit rooms 2 and 3, as well as their sleeping quarters. During the park's closure period at the end of 2017 (December 29th to 31st), the mother and cub were taken outside to get used to the outdoor exercise area open to the public. Xiang Xiang immediately became active, climbing trees and spending up to four hours outside at times.
Xiang Xiang spends her days awake for 1-3 hours and then sleeping for 3-4 hours. When she's awake, she walks around the house and climbs on trees and door bars. When she sleeps, she rests quietly in a corner of the house, and she can also be seen sleeping in trees. We have also confirmed that she is able to defecate and urinate on her own.
Shin Shin takes care of Xiang Xiang by licking her body, nursing her about twice a day, and helping her with her bowel movements. Shin Shin also frequently eats bamboo, bamboo grass, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings.
