A physical examination of Xiang Xiang, Giant Panda born on June 12, 2017, was conducted around 9:00 AM on February 5th, when she was 238 days old. Her weight was 17.5 kg, an increase of 1.1 kg from 16.4 kg on January 25th. Her length was not measured.
Mother Shin Shin and Xiang Xiang spend their days in indoor rooms 2 and 3 of Giant Panda enclosure and outdoor exercise area A, and their nights in indoor rooms 2 and 3 and their bedroom.
Since January 13th, Xiang Xiang has been going out to outdoor exercise area A almost every day, showing interest in various things around her, moving around a wide area, and climbing on trees and wooden platforms. She is also often seen playing with her mother, Shin Shin. Recently, she has become particularly interested in water, and has even been seen entering the pool on her own.
Xiang Xiang rests for about 13 to 15 hours a day, spending the rest of the time being active or nursing, but her rhythm is not consistent. Sometimes she may be awake for as long as 4 and a half hours at a time, or sleep for as long as 8 hours.
Additionally, they are often seen chewing on bamboo, apples, and carrots that their mothers are eating, but it has not yet been confirmed that they are actually foraging for them.
Shin Shin continues to care for her cub by licking its body, nursing it about twice a day, and helping it excrete. Shin Shin also eats bamboo, bamboo grass, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings.
