A physical examination of Xiang Xiang, Giant Panda born on June 12, 2017, was conducted at approximately 8:45 AM on March 15th, when she was 276 days old. Her weight was 21.7 kg, an increase of 1.1 kg from 20.6 kg on March 5th. Her length was not measured.
Mother Shin Shin and Xiang Xiang spend their days in indoor room 2 and outdoor exercise area A of Giant Panda enclosure, and their nights in indoor rooms 2 and 3.
Since January 13th, Xiang Xiang has been going out to outdoor exercise area A almost every day, showing interest in various things around her, playing energetically, and often seen playfully interacting with her mother, Shin Shin.
Xiang Xiang rests for about 13 to 15 hours a day, spending the rest of the time being active or nursing, but her rhythm is not fixed. In the mornings, she goes outside with her mother, Shin Shin, but during the day she can be seen sleeping in the trees in her enclosure or outdoors, sometimes sleeping for as long as 8 hours at a time.
They are also often seen chewing on bamboo, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings that their mother is eating, but "foraging" has not yet been confirmed.
Shin Shin continues to nurse Xiang Xiang about 3 to 4 times a day, help with her bowel movements, and take care of her. Shin Shin also eats bamboo, bamboo grass, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings.
