A physical examination of Xiang Xiang, Giant Panda born on June 12, 2017, was conducted around 9:00 AM on May 5, 2018, when she was 327 days old. Her weight was 26.3 kg, an increase of 0.7 kg from 25.6 kg on April 25. Her body length was not measured.
Mother Shin Shin and Xiang Xiang spend their days in indoor room 2 and outdoor exercise area A of Giant Panda enclosure, and their nights in indoor rooms 2 and 3.
Since January 13, 2018, Xiang Xiang has been going out to outdoor exercise area A almost every day. She shows interest in various things around her, plays energetically, and is often seen playfully interacting with her mother, Shin Shin.
Xiang Xiang rests for about 13 to 15 hours a day, spending the rest of the time being active or nursing, but her rhythm is not fixed. In the mornings, she goes outside with her mother, Shin Shin, and during the day she is often seen sleeping in trees outdoors.
They are also often seen chewing on bamboo, bamboo shoots, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings that their mothers are eating, but "foraging" has not yet been confirmed.
Shin Shin continues to nurse Xiang Xiang about 4-5 times a day, help with her bowel movements, and take care of her. Shin Shin also eats bamboo, bamboo grass, bamboo shoots, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings.
