A physical examination of Xiang Xiang, Giant Panda born on June 12, 2017, was conducted around 8:45 AM on June 5, 2018, when she was 358 days old. Her weight was 28.2 kg, an increase of 0.5 kg from 27.7 kg on May 25. Her body length was not measured.
Mother Shin Shin and Xiang Xiang spend their days in indoor room 2 and outdoor exercise area A of Giant Panda enclosure, and their nights in indoor rooms 2 and 3.
Since January 13, 2018, Xiang Xiang has been going out to outdoor exercise area A almost every day. She shows interest in various things around her, plays energetically, and is often seen playfully interacting with her mother, Shin Shin.
Xiang Xiang rests for about 13 to 15 hours a day, and spends the rest of the time being active or nursing, but her rhythm is not constant.
Up until now, the pup had often been seen nibbling on bamboo shoots, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings that its mother was eating. However, on the evening of May 10th, when it was given a cut apple along with other food, it was observed holding the apple with its front paws and eating it little by little, and since then it has been eating apples almost every day.
Additionally, on May 25th (Friday), the bird was observed eating about 15g of bamboo shoots, but since then, it has only nibbled on the bamboo shoots and has not been seen actively eating them.
Shin Shin continues to nurse Xiang Xiang about 4-5 times a day, help with her bowel movements, and take care of her. Shin Shin also eats bamboo, bamboo grass, bamboo shoots, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings.
