A physical examination of Xiang Xiang, Giant Panda born on June 12, 2017, was conducted around 8:50 AM on June 25, 2018, when she was 378 days old. Her weight was 29.6 kg, an increase of 0.6 kg from 29.0 kg on June 15. Her length was not measured.
Mother Shin Shin and Xiang Xiang spend their days in indoor room 2 and outdoor exercise area A of Giant Panda enclosure, and their nights in indoor rooms 2 and 3.
Since January 13, 2018, Xiang Xiang has been going out to outdoor exercise area A almost every day. She shows interest in various things around her, plays energetically, and is often seen playfully interacting with her mother, Shin Shin. She also occasionally uses the hammock that was installed in indoor room 2 on June 11 to play and rest.
Xiang Xiang rests for about 13 to 15 hours a day, and spends the rest of the time being active or nursing, but her rhythm is not constant.
Up until now, it had often been seen nibbling on bamboo shoots, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings that its mother was eating, but on the evening of May 10th, it was observed holding a sliced apple with its front paws and eating it little by little, and since then it has been eating apples almost every day.
Additionally, on May 25th (Friday), the dog was observed eating bamboo shoots, and has continued to be seen chewing on them since then, but hasn't eaten much. Furthermore, the process of replacing baby teeth with permanent teeth is continuing.
Shin Shin continues to nurse Xiang Xiang about 4-5 times a day, help with her bowel movements, and take care of her. Shin Shin also eats bamboo, bamboo grass, bamboo shoots, apples, carrots, and panda dumplings.
