Xiang Xiang, a female Giant Panda born at Ueno Zoo on June 12, 2017, is owned by China under an agreement between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the China Wildlife Conservation Association, and is to be returned to China when she reaches 24 months of age. Following discussions between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Association, the deadline for her return has been set as December 31, 2020.
