At Ueno Zoo, a baby giraffe was born on February 2, 2020, the first Giraffe birth in 37 years (see the birth announcement here).

From March 24th to 31st, this child Name voting We held a poll and received many votes. The total number of votes exceeded 9,000! Thank you so much for your many votes.
We are pleased to announce that the following name has been chosen based on the voting results.
Decided name "Hikari" Name origin: It's the name of an apple variety. It also goes well with my father's name, "Hinata."
Regarding disclosure We will decide on the release date while taking Hikari's health into consideration. We will inform you again once the release date and time have been decided.
