We would like to inform you that Ueno Zoo will be transferring its Sumatran Tiger, "Abadi" (male), to Wanomori Wanpark Kochi Animal Land (Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture).

Our zoo is working in cooperation with other zoos to promote the breeding of the rare Sumatran Tiger.
We are pleased to announce that Abadi (male), one of the three offspring born on December 4, 2023, to Mimpi (female, born at Yokohama Zoological Gardens Zoorasia) and Bran (male, born at Sendai Yagiyama Zoological Park), will be moved to Wano Mori Wanpark Kochi Animal Land in accordance with Sumatran Tiger management plan of the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Regarding future exhibitions

From Thursday, March 20, 2025, the area will be closed to the public in preparation for relocation. Until Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the animal will be released into the enclosure as usual, along with the other two animals born on December 4, 2023, "Alona" (male) and "Makumuru" (female) (*). Please note that the schedule may change depending on the animals' condition.
*Because they are released into the outdoor enclosure in rotation with other Sumatran Tiger, they may not be visible at certain times.

Current status of animal care at our zoo (as of February 27, 2025)

8 animals (3 males, 5 females) *This includes "Abadi," who will be moving this time.
